About Me
I’m Larry Algiene, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and founder of Animo Therapy. Animo means courage, and personal courage is at the heart of the work I do.
As a 50-year-old Mexican American counselor, I understand the cultural, generational, and personal pressures that many men carry silently. My passion is helping men and boys — especially teenagers and emerging adults — become the strongest, healthiest version of themselves.
Many men are taught to suppress emotion, “push through,” or handle things on their own. But real strength takes courage — the courage to face trauma, break unhealthy cycles, and build a new future.
That’s where I come in.

My approach blends evidence-based therapy with real-world practicality. I don’t just help clients talk about problems — I help them develop tools to overcome them.
Why “Courage”?
Courage isn’t the absence of fear.
It’s the willingness to face what hurts, what’s broken, and what needs to change.
Seeking therapy is an act of courage.
Healing is an act of courage.
Breaking generational cycles is an act of courage.
If you’re ready to do courageous work, I’d be honored to walk alongside you.
